SYNOPSIS
In the 1950s, the Izolyatsia factory in Donetsk was a major industrial center in the Donbas, a jewel of communism. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Izolyatsia was transformed into a prestigious contemporary art center, hosting artists from around the world. In 2014, when the Donbas war broke out, the center was seized by separatists, and artworks deemed degenerate were destroyed. Izolyatsia became a place of detention and torture. Through the testimonies of survivors, the story of Izolyatsia reflects Ukraine's struggle to become a democratic state. The exact number of victims remains unknown to this day.
